DEL REY: BLUES QUEEN
Del Rey started playing guitar at the age of four. As a teenager, she met bluesman Sam Chatmon who inspired her to become a Blues Queen! Her playing combines country blues and hillbilly boogie, and her live show is full of complex grooves and sly humor. She is also a master of the ukelele and has produced four solo CDs at her label, Hobemian Records. Del Rey is traveling from Seattle to play for us, so come out and show her that here on the East Coast we also love great live music! "If you like your blues warm, wise, witty and well-played, give Del Rey a listen."
DEL REY Saturday, April 24, 2010, 8 p.m.

ANNE HILLS: LOCAL TREASURE
Tom Paxton says, "Anne Hills is such an exquisite singer that it's understandable that people be swept up in the pure beauty of her voice and overlook her writing. That would be a mistake...she is quite simply one of my absolute favorite songwriters."
Anne's collaborative work with top acoustic artists is the keystone of her career, yet it is her singing and interpretive gifts that have received the most attention. 1998 saw the release of Anne's performances on "Where Have All the Flowers Gone? (The Songs of Pete Seeger)". It was one of the most talked about compilations of the year, placing Anne's voice alongside Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, The Roches and the Indigo Girls. Anne Hills -- as a singer, musician, and songwriter -- will amaze you! Join us in welcoming her to Lewis Circle House Concerts!
ANNE HILLS Saturday, May 22, 2010, 8 p.m.
What is a house concert? A house concert is a performance in a private home by professional musicians for a small, appreciative audience. The growing circuit of house concerts offers artists the opportunity to grow their fan base and make a living at their craft. Ticket and CD sales directly support the musicians. Typically lasting two hours, house concerts give music fans something they can’t find in larger venues: an intimate concert experience in a quiet, smoke-free setting. Take a chance on an artist you may have never heard before. You won’t regret it.
